The explosion at a fertiliser plant in the U.S town of West (Texas) has claimed the lives of about 35 people, local TV channel CNN said referring to Mayor Tommy Muska, Interfax reported.
Initially, U.S. media reported that up to 70 people could be the victims of the explosion. The local police initially assumed that the explosion killed from 5 to 15 people.
At present, rescuers continue searching for survivors.
