US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron Saturday conferred about the alleged chemical attack in Syria and possible responses, dpa reported.
Obama also met with his national security team, including Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel. The US is coordinating with international partners and is "mindful of the dozens of contemporaneous witness accounts and record of the symptoms of those killed," the White House said in a statement about that meeting.
Obama had received a review of a "range of potential options" that he had requested not only for the United States but also the international community on the response to the use of chemical weapons. "The US intelligence community continues to gather facts to ascertain what occurred," the White House said.
Cameron and Obama expressed "grave concern" about the reports and said they would "continue to consult closely regarding this incident, as well as possible responses by the international community," the White House said in a separate statement.
