Baku, Azerbaijan, February 17. Italy imported 9.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan in 2024, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.
The total value of these imports reached approximately €3.7 billion.

Gas volumes fluctuated throughout the year, with the highest monthly imports recorded in December (887 million cubic meters) and October (879 million cubic meters). Meanwhile, the lowest import volumes were observed in August (623 million cubic meters) and April (778 million cubic meters). The peak monthly value was also registered in December, amounting to €438.3 million.
On average, Italy imported approximately 808 million cubic meters of gas per month from Azerbaijan.
Italy imports gas from Azerbaijan via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the European leg of the Southern Gas Corridor. Its initial capacity is 10 billion cubic meters per year with the possibility of increasing to 20 billion cubic meters.
