Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Singaporean leader Tony Tan held an expanded meeting today, involving the two countries' delegations.
It was noted at the meeting that Azerbaijani leader`s visit to Singapore is remarkable and a historic event in the relations between the two countries.
The sides noted that the visit would contribute to ensuring overall development of Singapore-Azerbaijan relations.
Singapore's crucial role in the Southeastern Asian region was also noted. From this point of view, Singapore's position is similar to that of Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus region.
The presidents pointed out there are good prospects for overall expansion of the cooperation between the two rapidly developing countries.
They said Singapore and Azerbaijan have certain connections in economic, trade and energy fields, adding, however, that those connections do not reflect the existing potentional of both countries.
During the talks, sides agreed to set up a joint coordinating body to ensure the development of the bilateral cooperation.
