Azerbaijani rowers struggle in first stage of World Cup

Azerbaijani national team on boat racing joined the struggle in the first stage of the World Cup, which is taking place in Munich, Germany.

Our country is represented by the national team on extended composition at this authoritative competition, Azerbaijani National Rowing Federation told Trend on Saturday.

For the first time a woman athlete Natalia Mustafayeva will perform in national team.
She will perform in a one-seater boat of light weight (W1X).

Among men Alexander Alexandrov performs in one-seater boat (M1X), Kamal Mammadov in one-seater boat of light weight (LM1X), duo Javid Afandiyev - Igor Khmara in two-seater boat of light weight (LM2X).

Athletes will compete at a distance of 2,000 meters.

At the qualifying stage Natalia Mustafayeva covered this distance in 7 minutes 26.22 seconds and ranked third. With this result Mustafayeva passed to the consolation stage.

Alexander Alexandrov covered the distance in 6 minutes 48.86 seconds and ranked third. Kamal Mammadov ranked fourth with a score of 7 minutes 21.90 seconds. Both athletes passed to the consolation stage.

Finally, the duo Javid Afandiyev - Igor Khmara ranked fourth, covering the distance in 6 minutes 26.21 seconds. Rowers have the right to perform in ¼ finals.

The first phase of the World Cup will end on May 29.
