The European Union is committed to support further development of Tajikistan, Asia-Plus reported on Thursday.

EU decided to allocate 16 million euros to the country's agrarian sector within this support. The sides signed the allocation of funds in Dushanbe on Thursday.

The document was undersigned by the EU High representative for Foreign Policy Catherine Ashton and Tajikistan's first vice Prime Minister Matlubkhon Davlatov.

Ashton during her visit to Tajikistan also met with the country's officials including Presdient Emomali Rahmon and discussed a wide range of issues including the situation in Afghanistan.

She proposed the country to look for alternative electricity resources.
