The Georgian Tourism Development Fund is among the companies that made the largest investments in the country in the second quarter of 2019, said National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), Trend reports with reference to commersant.ge.

Geostat also notes the companies such as JSC Nenskra Hydro, Adjara Energy 2007 and JSC Energo-pro Georgia. The top 10 list also includes BGEO Group PLC, one of the companies operating in the investment business. Among other companies in the list provided by Geostat are MagtiCom, Aides Borjomi Georgia, RMG Copper and Toyota Caucasus.

As for foreign direct investments in Georgia, according to preliminary data of Geostat, in the second quarter of 2019 they amounted to $187 million, which is 53.7 percent less for the second quarter of 2018.

Among the main reasons for the decline are the completion of the main gas pipeline construction project, a reduction in liabilities to non-resident direct investors (debt repayment), and a reduction in reinvestment, the report said.
