So far, more than 250 seed suppliers, as well as 83 suppliers of fertilizers and pesticides, have been registered on the website of the Electronic Agricultural Information System (EKTIS), Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Agrarian Credit and Development Agency (AKIA) Mirza Aliyev said.
Aliyev made the remark at a meeting of representatives of AKIA and Azerbaijan’s Agency for Agrarian Services with suppliers of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides in Baku Feb. 6, Trend reports.
The AKIA chairman noted that actually, there are more suppliers of agricultural products, since the EKTIS system doesn’t fully cover Azerbaijan for now.
“The main purpose of the meeting is to speed up the registration of suppliers in the EKTIS system,” Aliyev said.
The chairman noted that the fertilizer and pesticide market is completely liberalized.
From Jan. 1 this year, the new rules for subsidizing agricultural production are in force in Azerbaijan, according to which agricultural subsidies to farmers will be issued through the EKTIS system.
The new support mechanism applied in the field of agriculture, serves to increase accountability and transparency, ensure the efficient use of budgetary funds and simplify interaction with farmers.
