The implementation of major projects by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev's order has been initiated. These projects will significantly strengthen the "power frame" of the state's capital.
"Now TPP-1 and TPP-2 are actively modernized, construction of a new energy source -TPP-3 is initiated. This will significantly increase the power. The realization of the first stage of the project started last year," Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov reported on his Facebook page on Friday.
According to Massimov, the consumption of thermal energy increased by 11 percent in Astana in 2011 compared to 2010, while the electricity by eight percent. The increase is explained by the active exploitation of the social and residential facilities.
At the moment the generated energy power is following: heat - 1564 Gcal / h, electric - 357 MW.
The VL-220 kW ring for optimal power distribution is build around Astana. This project is divided into three phases, the first of which will be completed in the middle of this year, and the project itself - by the end of 2013. This will increase the capacity of existing distribution networks from 500 MW to 1200 MW. This measure would remove the critical load from the existing lines, while reducing the accident rate in almost all areas of electricity networks and in substations.
The project provides for two years, after which the gas will be used for both the needs of the population and the various industries, as well as for partial use in power plants.
