BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 21. Azerbaijan has joined the group of countries with the highest indicators in the UN e-government development rating for the first time this week, Trend reports.

According to the report, Azerbaijan has risen nine positions in two years, taking 74th place among 193 countries in the world. Following the results of the rating, the country scored 0.7607 points on a 1-point scale, which is the highest indicator in the history of Azerbaijan. This allowed the country for the first time to enter the category of “Very High e-Government Development Index”, which includes the leading countries in terms of the level of development of “e-government”.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that active work on the introduction and development of a personal identification system in Azerbaijan is underway. It is planned to reach more than 3,000 points of implementation of the system by the end of this year, which will allow it to expand its use in various spheres.

Additionally, it was reported this week that Azercell has started accepting digital identity cards in all its offices.

This week it was also reported that since the beginning of this year, the number of use of electronic services of the State Examination Center of Azerbaijan has exceeded 11 million.
