ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 1. About 84,400 transactions worth 23.6 billion tenge (about $52.3 million) were sent to Kazakhstan from abroad through international money transfer systems in December 2023, Trend reports.
The data of the Central Bank of Kazakhstan shows that compared to November 2023, the number of money transfers received increased by 9.1 percent, the volume of transactions decreased by 0.6 percent.
In November, the largest number of transfers from abroad were made through the Zolotaya Korona (36,760 transactions - 12 billion tenge or about $26.6 million), Western Union (22,480 - 6.2 billion tenge or about $13.7 million), MoneyGram (11,300 - 3.4 billion tenge or about $7.5 million), Contact (6,750 - 1.56 billion tenge or about $3.47 million) and others (5,140 - 399 million tenge or about $884,000).
In terms of the volume of money transfers to Kazakhstan from abroad, the leaders are: Russia: 6.8 billion tenge or about $15 million (share 28.9 percent); the US - 2.9 billion tenge or about $6.3 million (share 12.3 percent); South Korea: 2.6 billion tenge or about $5.8 million (share 11.2 percent).
In addition, the main share of transfers through international systems was carried out in US dollars (share of the total number of transfers: 38.1 percent, share of the total volume of transfers: 57.6 percent) and in Kazakhstani tenge (33 percent and 22.8 percent, respectively).
