ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 2. Kazakhstan will launch a plant for the production of components for drip irrigation systems in the city of Konaev, Trend reports.
The plant is a joint project of Kazakh and Chinese businessmen. Drip irrigation allows water to be used more efficiently by directing it directly to the roots of plants.
It is expected that within a week, the facility will be able to provide up to 500 hectares of fields with drip irrigation technologies.
A similar plant is planned to open in the city of Taraz.
Meanwhile, on January 31, Kazakhstan approved the concept for the development of the water resources management system for 2024–2030.
The document notes that to encourage farmers to use water-saving technologies, the share of subsidizing costs for the creation of irrigation systems, as well as the purchase of drip and sprinkler irrigation equipment, will be increased from 50 to 80 percent.
It is expected that, thanks to this, the area of irrigated land with water-saving technologies will increase to 1.3 million hectares, about 2.1 cubic km of water will be saved, and agricultural yields will also significantly increase.
