ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 26. Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ, national company), Russian Slavtrans Service, and Chinese Xian Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co., Ltd. have launched the construction of a new transport and logistics center, CRK Terminal, at Selyatino station (Russia), Trend reports.
As part of the construction launch, the container train HUB to
HUB was dispatched from Selyatino station to Xi'an, carrying 53
containers.
The main logistics center is intended to facilitate direct
transportation ties between the Kazakh-Chinese terminal in Xi'an
(China), Russia, and other nations.
The project's realization will bring numerous benefits for
transshipment and cargo handling, notably for Kazakh shippers, will
improve delivery times, and will contribute to medium- and
long-term container transportation planning.
As KTZ noted, the joint venture will make it possible to maximize the potential of project participants and expand the range of services provided in logistics and terminal activities.
Meanwhile, the volume of transit cargo transportation by rail through Kazakhstan in the China-Russia direction and back amounted to 3.8 million tons in 2023. This is 35 percent more than in 2022.
At the same time, in the first quarter of 2024, transit traffic in the China-Russia-China direction remains at the 2023 level of 900,000 tons.
