BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 30. Kyrgyzstan and Russia have agreed to collaborate on the construction of the Chaldovar thermal power station in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.
According to Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy, the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation on the construction project was signed by Taalaibek Ibraev, the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, and Nikolay Shulginov, the Minister of Energy of Russia.
The document aims to foster cooperation between Kyrgyzstani and Russian authorized organizations within the framework of implementing the Chaldovar thermal power station construction project.
Additionally, it directs efforts towards exploring other promising projects in the modernization and construction of generating capacities within Kyrgyzstan.
To note, on March 26, Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy and the major Russian company Rosatom signed agreements to implement an investment project for wind power generation in Kyrgyzstan, with a capacity of up to 1 GW.
According to Kyrgyzstan's State Statistical Committee, the country generated over 3.434 billion kWh from January through February 2024, which is an 8.2-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2023.
