TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 28. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow discussed the dynamic development of bilateral ties, Trend reports.
According to the Uzbek president’s office, the sides discussed topical issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership, expanding multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
During the conversation, both officials emphasized the promotion of joint projects in the transportation, communication, and energy sectors.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s trade turnover volume with Turkmenistan totaled $740.8 million from January through July 2024. This indicator has increased by 50.4 percent year-on-year ($492.4 million in January–July 2023).
Turkmenistan ranked 6th among the countries with the largest volume of foreign trade turnover in Uzbekistan.
