BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. Iran's non-oil exports to the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), rose by 16 percent in value and 35 percent in volume, for the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports via Iran’s Customs Administration.
Iran exported 2.2 million tons of non-oil goods worth around $748 million to the EAEU member countries in 5 months.
In the last Iranian year (March 21, 2023 - March 19, 2024), Iran's export of non-oil products to EAEU members amounted to 4.5 million tons worth $1.7 billion. Compared to the previous year (March 21, 2022 - March 20, 2023), it increased by 13 percent in terms of value and 18 percent in terms of weight.
Iran imported 3.9 million tons of non-oil products from EAEU members, valued at $1.6 billion in 5 months.
Meanwhile, Iran imported 10 million tons of non-oil products worth $5.3 billion from EU member countries during the last Iranian year (March 21, 2023 - March 19, 2024). Imports of non-oil products increased by 13 percent in value and 18 percent in weight compared to the previous year (March 21, 2022 - March 20, 2023).
To note, a free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union was signed in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on December 25. The mentioned agreement must be ratified in the parliaments of 6 countries (Iran and EAEU member countries). After the agreement enters force, the trade turnover is predicted to reach $18-$20 billion within 5 through 7 years.
