USA lifts ban on civil aircraft landing at Boston

The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States (FAA) lifted all restrictions on landing at the airport introduced after the terrorist attack in Boston, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday with reference to USA Today newspaper on Tuesday.

Two explosions within a12-second interval occurred in Boston during the International Marathon on Tuesday night. According to the police, the bombs were installed at a 50 to100 metre distance from each other. Three people, including an eight year old child were killed and more than 140 people were injured.

Immediately after the attack, the U.S. aviation authorities temporarily banned civil aircraft landing at the airport although at the same time flights from the airport were being conducted as scheduled.

According to Boston airport officials, the restrictions were in force for a short period and had almost no impact on air traffic.

Civil aircraft flights in a radius of three miles from the attack zone were also banned. This was later reduced to two miles. At present, only aircraft of the U.S. security agencies have the right to fly in this area.
