43 Bodies Delivered to Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, 27 August / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / Separatists handed 43 bodies to Georgia on 26 August. Givi Targamadze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Defense and National Security Commission, said to journalists that the bodies were handed to Georgians on the "post of Russian peacekeepers in the Karaleti village in Gori region".

Tbilisi holds talks with Tskhinvali to release Georgian captured from the territory of South Ossetia.

According to Targamadze, "90 captured' remained in S.Ossetia.

Large-scale military operations commenced in the unrecognized South Ossetia republic in the early morning of 8 August. Georgian Army was reported to enter Tskhinvali. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and ousted Georgian militaries.

On 12 August, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated that the military operations were stopped. Russian peacekeepers and international observers remained in the Georgian territory.
