Russian senior official offers to hold Russian-Azerbaijani humanitarian forum annually

Russian Presidential Administration Head Sergei Narishkin, who is on a working visit to Azerbaijan, offered to make the Russian-Azerbaijani Forum on Humanitarian Cooperation standing.

Narshkin made this statement during his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, RIA Novosti reported.

Jan. 22-23 Baku hosts the First Russian-Azerbaijani Forum on Humanitarian Cooperation.

"The forum must be made standing and annual, by inviting other participants," he said.

In his turn, Aliyev noted necessity of expanding the forum's format. "Our cooperation in the humanitarian sphere has a good base ... There is good lifelength, this forum can become a good model for international cooperation," he added.

He estimated the forum as "a very positive event."

Participants of the two-day event discuss various aspects of interaction between the two countries and their public, strengthening and development bilateral relations.

Topic panel discussion covers, particularly, the spheres of culture, science, medicine, education, media, television and sport. About 350 people from both sides are attending the event.
