Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov received newly appointed Iranian Ambassador in Ashgabat Mohammad-Mousa Hashemi Golpayegani.
Golpayegani conveyed greetings from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to his Turkmen counterpart and all of the Turkmen people, a Turkmen state press service reported.
"Iran attaches great importance to developing relations with brotherly Turkmenistan, which in recent years gained a new quality and content relying on mutual goodwill," he said.
Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan sees Iran as a good friend and a reliable partner, with which it will continue to enhance a traditional friendly dialogue.
The realization of large joint projects in various sectors, including energy, transport and communications is an active element of bilateral cooperation.
