Kazakhstan is to hold the parliamentary elections in 2012 in accordance with the constitutional term, President Nazarbayev said.

"The parliamentary elections will be held in 2012," the president said. I think we will adequately hold these elections too."

Earlier, presidential adviser Yermukhamet Yertysbayev repeatedly talked about the possibility of the snap parliamentary elections this summer. The experts did not exclude this scenario.
Nursultan Nazarbayev also stressed that the current Cabinet of Ministers headed by Prime Minister Karim Masimov is especially close to the Parliament.

The Parliament of the next convocation must become multi-party, if elections are held properly.

According to the changes in the constitution of 2007, at least two political parties must be represented in the lower house of the parliament.

"We face great challenges," Nazarbayev said. The most important challenge is consolidation. It begins from the authority. If the authority and people consolidate, of course, we will have great achievements for our people and country."
