Azerbaijan has transferred the Chairmanship in the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA) to Kazakhstan.
The grand ceremony of handing over the symbolic speaker's hammer took place at the TurkPA Council meeting on Wednesday, which was opened by Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov, and continued by the Kazakh Majilis Chairman Ural Mukhamedjanov.
After discussing issues related to holding TurkPA's plenary meeting on April 28 at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, speakers of TurkPA's member countries' parliaments signed the Protocol on making amendments and additions to the Istanbul Agreement "On the Establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries".
Several other issues were considered. The leaders of the parliaments signed a Protocol on cooperation of TurkPA member countries' parliamentary libraries.
