A Chairman of the Central Asian and Southern Caucasian Freedom of Expression Network (CASCFEN) Azer Hasret has condemned the silence of international journalist and human rights organizations towards intimidation and arrest of the special correspondent of Baku based Russian language haqqin.az news and analysis web site. As he told to the media, the silent approach towards a journalist`s arrest and intimidation, confiscation of mobile phone by police in the heart of Europe once more approves double standards implemented by the Western organizations.

"According to news, available to CASCFEN, Tomas Occupy, a journalist with haqqin.az was arrested by police while covering protest action in the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bayern - Germany, where was conducted a meeting of G7. A journalist, who spent 4 hours in police custody, has got warning and allowed to leave. But his mobile phone was confiscated. A journalist, whose fulfillment of professional duty faced an obstacle against his will, is accused for taking a photo of policeman who was in service. And this is especially absurd accusation for Europe. Because the policemen can`t prohibit in any circumstance taking his/her photo while in duty" - has said Azer Hasret.

CASCFEN Chairman added further that as miserable as is this case itself, indifference of international journalist and human rights organizations to the case is more miserable.

"Usually we observe quick reaction of Western organizations to the most usual likewise cases in the countries like Azerbaijan. But we can`t consider as appreciated silence of Western media and organizations towards a case which happened in the heart of Western values - Germany, followed by violence" - has added CASCFEN Chairman Azer Hasret.
