Nine people detained in illegal action administratively fined

Chaired by judge Shahin Abdullayev, the meeting at Nasimi district court of Baku considered the case of 10 detainees for violations of public order during illegal actions conducted in connection with the first anniversary of the tragedy that took place at Baku Oil Academy.

Nine of them were administratively fined and freed and one - Ahad Mammadli was arrested for 10 days.

"We have asked the court to make these individuals administratively responsible," deputy head of the press service of the Interior Ministry Ehsan Zahidov told Trend. According Zahidov, other detainees were released after a warning.

In connection with the anniversary of the tragedy at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, today a group of young people made an attempt to hold illegal protest action near the monument to Jafar Jabbarli.

The police prevented the illegal action.

On April 30, 2009, Farda Gadir burst into the Academy and shot at employees and students of the university, killing 12, and wounding 13 people. Surrounded by the police, the intruder committed suicide.
