Metal detectors will be installed on the main and active stations of the Tashkent metro.
So far, the first metal detectors have been installed in at the Amir Temur Square stations.
According to a Tashkent metro representative, the metal detectors are another step toward improving security in the metro. Manual metal detectors were previously used at stations.
"The tragic events that took place in Minsk and earlier in Moscow show that it is necessary to create all the necessary conditions to prevent crimes," he said.
After the events in Minsk, police patrols were strengthened in Tashkent to protect the metro.
In total, 29 stations operate in the Tashkent metro.
The metro is used by about 180,000 passengers every day.
