Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has approved the rules for issuing permits for commercial use of samples of Azerbaijani folklore outside the country by legal and physical entities of foreign countries, and payment for their use, the Cabinet reported on Friday.
According to the decision of the Government, it needs to pay $1,200 for publishing, copying samples of folklore, including distribution of copies on CD, DVD and other media and posting on the websites, as well as for the mass recitation or performance of a sample, $1,000 for mass broadcasting of folklore sample on radio, television and cable television, $500 for interactive broadcasting of folklore samples.
To use the samples of folklore, the customer will need to appeal to the Copyright Agency of Azerbaijan. The sides should sign a license agreement for the commercial use of these samples outside Azerbaijan.
In May, the Azerbaijani parliament approved the amendments and changes to the Law on legal protection of designs of Azerbaijan folklore.
