It is necessary to launch works to establish close contacts with potential candidates of the future French Parliament, Nazim Ibrahimov, head of the State Committee for Affairs with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad, said, commenting France's National Assembly's passing a bill at the pressure of the Armenian lobby in this country, Trend reports. This law envisages a criminal punishment for a denial of the so-called Armenian genocide.
Mr. Ibrahimov considers that the unity of hundreds of Turks and Azerbaijanis all around the World is a must. That will not only prevent France Parliament passing such bill, but will help passing laws to the advantage of Azerbaijan and Turkey, he said.
The Head of the Committee said, that the first Forum of the Azerbaijani Diaspora Organizations is expected to be held in Baku in March, 2007. A united strategy is expected
to be elaborated during the forthcoming event. At present, Azerbaijan is negotiating with the Turkish party on this issue.
According to Mr. Ibrahimov, Azerbaijan is cooperating with the Jewish Diaspora as well. He reminded that he is about to pay a visit to USA on November 8, where he will hold a meeting with representatives of the Jewish Diaspora. Next year, within an annual conference of the American Jewish, one day is expected to be devoted to Azerbaijan. However, cooperation between the Jewish and Turkish Diasporas is needed. This cooperation is still too week. Therefore, we cannot rely now only on the Turkish Diaspora. At the same time, a close work with other Diasporas is being carried out, said the Head of the Committee.
Mr. Ibrahimov also told that he is about to participate at the ceremony on the occasion of the founding of the Congress of Azerbaijanis living in the countries of Benelux. It will be held in Netherlands on November 15.
