BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.4
By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:
Azerbaijan has all the opportunities for the development of the neo-banking sector despite the local financial market’s being narrower compared to some developed countries, PASHA Bank’s Board Member Jalal Orujov told Trend.
According to Orujov, the Azerbaijani banking sector, both in technical and legal terms, allows entrepreneurs or organizations to provide neo-banking services.
"Azerbaijan has all the opportunities for those entrepreneurs wishing to provide the services. Moreover, these opportunities don’t require such entrepreneurs to have a license for banking services. It’s enough to have an agreement on the organization's cooperation with one of the local banks," he said.
The board member noted that any organization or startup project can enter into such cooperation with PASHA Bank.
In turn, the head of the bank’s engineering department Vusal Khalilov noted that the digital transformation project started at PASHA Bank 3 years ago was successfully completed in 2020.
Khalilov pointed out that during the past period the bank received more than 3,000 resumes, of which only 60 IT specialists were elected.
"These figures indicate that future IT specialists should be universal rather than narrow-qualified ones," he added.
Neo-bank is a digital bank that operates in a virtual space, devoid of traditional physical branches and providing full-fledged online banking services from any computer or mobile device.
From February 4, 2021, Pasha Bank will start cooperation with the IT company Lotfi Zadeh Technology Center in the field of information technology and the provision of IT solutions.
