ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 24. Delegates from the railway administrations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, and Georgia convened in Beijing to synergize efforts aimed at amplifying the throughput of logistics along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, commonly referred to as the Middle Corridor, Trend reports.
"In Beijing, the management of KTZ Express, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), along with representatives from the railways of China, Georgia, and Azerbaijan, participated in an expert meeting on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). The meeting reviewed the performance of the route in 2024, discussed completed projects, and planned initiatives for the upcoming year," Kazakhstan Railways noted
It was disclosed that throughout the deliberations, the stakeholders reached a consensus to augment the throughput of logistics along the TITR. An accord was established to amplify the throughput of containerized rail services originating from China through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), thereby elevating the operational cadence to four daily train departures, effectively doubling the existing capacity.
Additionally, to improve the efficiency and transparency of logistical processes along the route, the parties discussed the possibility of developing a unified digital platform for tracking and managing cargo flows.
To note, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, is an international transport route that passes through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and onward to Turkey and European countries. Part of the corridor is the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
