ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 14. Mangistaumunaigas has filed an appeal in response to a fine of over 32 billion tenge ($60.7 million), Trend reports.
"Regarding the administrative (environmental) fine of 31 billion tenge ($58.9 million) under Parts 1 and 6 of Article 328 of the Administrative Code of Kazakhstan, Mangistaumunaigas JSC is preparing a petition to submit to the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan for a review and cancellation of the decision of the Karakiyan District Court of the Mangistau region dated December 4, 2024," the company stated.
The company also emphasized that concerning the excessive emissions of pollutants into the environment from oil heating furnaces, Mangistaumunaigas JSC has filed an appeal with the Mangistau regional court against the first-instance court’s decision on December 11, 2024, regarding a fine of 1.2 billion tenge ($2.28 million). The date of the hearing has not yet been set.
"Mangistaumunaigas is a socially responsible company that always strictly adheres to environmental protection and safety regulations," the company added.
To note, the Prosecutor's Office of Mangistau region of Kazakhstan recently identified significant violations in the activities of Mangistaumunaigas JSC, including the discharge of wastewater into the subsoil and the accumulation of drilling waste without setting appropriate limits, which led to the imposition of this fine.
