Georgia’s banking sector recovers from crisis

Georgia's banking sector completes a monthly rate of profit for fourth months in succession. According to the National Bank of Georgia, in June profits of commercial banks increased by 9 million to 37 million lari ($ 1 = 1.83 lari).

During the reporting period, amount of overdue loans fell 17 million lari, amounting to 201,136 million lari.

Fitch International Rating Agency also stresses positive changes in the banking sector. According the Agency's analysts, rate of lending and deposits increased in Georgia's banking sector.

Therefore, Fitch intends to improve the Georgian banks' ratings.

Georgia's banking sector concluded 2009 with a loss worth 65 million lari.
