Azerbaijan's GDP in non-oil sector increases by 5.6 percent

Azerbaijan's GDP increased by 1.6 percent or 149.5 million manat in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2010, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported.
In current prices, the GDP indicator reached 10.4 billion manat. The GDP per capita amounted to 1.157 manat ($1.455).
The share of the non-oil sector, which increased by 5.6 percent during the year, hit 47.1 percent of the GDP (4.9 billion manat) with 52.5 percent (5.5 billion manat) accounting for the oil and gas sector and processing, decreasing by 1.9 percent.
The total production volume in all sectors of the economy decreased by 1.9 percent and hit 63.8 percent of the GDP, with 55.7 percent of the GDP (5.81 billion manat) accounting for industry.

Agriculture, hunting and forestry provided 277.4 million manat in the first quarter, or 5.6 percent of the non-oil sector GDP. Construction provided 555.3 million manat (11.2 percent), transportation and warehousing - 770.6 million manat (15.6 percent), communication and post services - 194.1 million manat (3.9 percent), and social and other services - 1.2 billion manat (24 percent), and trade services and motor vehicle repairs - 816.7 million manat (16.5 percent), hotel business and catering - 141.5 million manat (2.9 percent).
The official exchange rate is 0.7927 manat to $1 on April 15.
