In January, Azerbaijan retained the second place among the major trading partners of Georgia, National Statistics Office of Georgia told Trend on Friday.
According to the information, in January the trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $84.003 million, over $43.237 million fell to Georgia's import and over $40.765 million - export.
Azerbaijan became the largest export market for Georgia in January - over $40.765 million.
Turkey again became first among the trade partners of Georgia. Turnover of Georgia with this country exceeded $89.850 million. Germany ranked third with more than $53.564 million.
Total foreign trade turnover of Georgia in January, 2012 amounted to $646 million. This figure is eight percent higher than figures for January 2011. Exports are $157 million (with a 5-per cent increase) and imports - $490 million (an eight percent increase).
The negative trade balance of Georgia in January 2012 amounted to $333 million or 51 percent of the total foreign trade.
