By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

The Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan adopted the concept of the transfer of agricultural machinery in all regions of Turkmenistan to the telematic digital system in 3 stages in 2019-2022, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary (TDH) state news agency.

The concept was adopted on the basis of a memorandum of understanding between the government of Turkmenistan and US’ John Deere. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan and John Deere on the introduction of a digital electronic control system in agricultural machinery and equipment for 2020-2030.

In the coming years, agricultural machinery of the John Deere and Claas brands, purchased by Turkmenistan in 2013-2019, will be equipped with telematics.

This will allow for tracking location, fuel consumption, actual operating time, load, and many other parameters of the machines by using remote monitoring, without having to go to the fields, TDH notes. A management center has been established under the Agriculture Ministry. A similar center, at a regional level, is located in the city of Anew in Turkmenistan’s Ahal Region.

John Deere brand equipment equipped with telematics sensors is currently being tested. Such "self-propelled" machines are utilized in mechanized work on the cotton fields of Gokdepe, Akbugday and Kaka districts of Ahal Region.

John Deere has been operating in the Turkmen market for over 25 years. The company is currently working on expanding the range of agricultural machinery supplied to Turkmenistan, including a modernized line of cotton-harvesting and combine harvesters, various tractors that meet the soil and climatic conditions of the country.

Turkmenistan aims to modernize the material and technical base of the agricultural sector in the context of the program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for 2019-2025. It is planned to collect 1.4 million tons of grain and 1.250 million tons of cotton in Turkmenistan next year.
