BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. Iran's raw steel exports increased by 33 percent, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Trend reports.
Within the 2 months, Iran exported 1.41 million tons of raw steel, while the figure stood at approximately 1.07 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
So, Iran exported 900,000 tons of billet and bloom during the reporting period, which is an increase of 7.4 percent compared to 838,000 tons in the same period of last year.
Iran also exported 514,000 tons of slabs for 2 months, which is 125 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure was 228,000 tons in the same period in the last Iranian year.
Moreover, Iran exported 501,000 tons of steel products over the mentioned period. This is an increase of 40.3 percent compared to 357,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Along with all these, Iran exported 204,000 tons of sponge iron in 2 months.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
