Azerbaijan, Sheki / Trend corr. E.Huseynov / Havy rains in North-West region of Azerbaijan destroyed hundred hectares of corn and sown areas.
The Azerbaijani Metrology Department has reported that a lot of rains were observed in Balakan region, exceeding a month norm by 32 millimeter. Rains caused flood water in Balakan, Katekh, Kish and Shin regions. Rains began on 14 July and to continue by 19 July and to increase flood water in the Balakan, Katekh and Kish Rivers.
Flood water seriously damaged corn and sown areas, situated in coastal territories. Zakatala region executive board has reported that rains will cause a lot of difficulties during harvest.
Flood water in the Kish River caused problems in water agriculture of Sheki.
According to Bayram Mammadov, the chairman of 'Sheki Su kanaltoreme', flood water damaged dyke along the Kish River, which provide 80% of water of the region. There is interruption of water supply due to event.
