KazMunaiGas's oil refinery in Romania to be ready by late 2011

The Petromidia Oil Refinery, owned by the largest national Kazakh oil and gas company KazMunaiGas in Romania, will be ready by late 2011, KazMunaiGas Board of Directors Chairman Kairgeldy Kabyldin said at a press conference in Astana within the Sixth Eurasian Energy Forum KazEnergy.

"We have invested nearly one billion dollars in the reconstruction of the Petromidia oil refinery, and by late 2011 we will get a modern plant in Europe in technological terms," Kabyldin said.

He said Rompetrol Oil Company in Europe is strategically important for KazMunaiGas.

"This is our energy bridge to Europe," he said. "We have plans to enter the Turkish market with oil products obtained at the oil refinery".
