Oil extraction up at Kazakhstan's largest oil & gas fields

Kazakhstan has extracted a total of 38.5 million tons of oil and condensate over the course of first five months of 2020, which corresponds to the same period of 2019, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s prime minister.

Of this volume, 12.4 million tons were extracted at the Tengiz field (1 percent less than in 2019), 7.1 million at Kashagan (65 percent more), 5.2 million tons at Karachaganak (4 percent more).

Oil export amounted to 31.4 million tons. Nogayev said that a significant increase in oil export compared to the same period last year is due to a decrease in supplies to the local market by 500,000 tons.

Gas extraction amounted to 24.8 billion cubic meters during the same period of 2020, which is 1 percent more than the planned volume and 7 percent more than during the same period of last year.

The volume of commercial gas production amounted to 14.04 billion cubic meters, the volume of commercial gas export was 6.9 billion cubic meters. The volume of liquefied petroleum gas production amounted to 1.3 million tons.

Electricity production amounted to 45.6 billion kWh. Uranium production amounted to 8,701 tons, which is 3.4 percent less compared to the same period of 2019. The volume of production of petrochemical products amounted to 197,000 tons, which is 77.5 percent more than during the same period of 2019.
