A Georgian project of biomass energy and energy efficient technologies took third place in the European Union (EU) Sustainable Energy Award for the Eastern Partnership, Trend reports referring to European Neighborhood Policy Partners website.

As reported, the award is part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2020 (EUSEW) which has been extended to six Eastern partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine for the second time this year.

Launched in 2019, the award showcases inspiring examples of innovative, local energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions from across the region that benefit both citizens and business alike.

The competition recognizes inspiring EU-supported energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that directly help citizens and communities save energy or switch to sustainable sources.

The Georgian award-winning project envisages full retrofitting of two municipal kindergartens with modern energy efficiency technologies using renewable energy in the country's eastern region of Kakheti.
