Amount of loans allocated to private sector increases in Turkmenistan

The amount of loans allocated to the private sector of Turkmenistan in 2020 increased by 18.9 percent, compared to the previous year, said Chairman of the Central Bank Merdan Annadurdiyev, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

Annadurdiyev made this remark at a working meeting held by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The amount of credit funds allocated to private producers for the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment increased by 34.9 percent.

The amount of funds allocated for the financial needs of economic entities increased by 11.4 percent.

As part of measures to support entrepreneurs, the volume of allocated concessional bank loans increased by 4.3 percent. Some 1,821 projects were funded in Turkmenistan.

As reported, Turkmenistan has amended the procedure for cashing in the national currency for entrepreneurs.

Thus, under the new changes, for business purposes, entrepreneurs are allowed to withdraw up to 75 percent a month of the amount that came on the card in cash, and up to 50 percent of the money received to the card through POS terminals.

Furthermore, the entrepreneur (seller) can also withdraw up to 70 percent of the money received on the card from customers in cash, on the basis of the purchase and sale agreement.

As was reported earlier, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, together with the local Rysgal joint-stock commercial Bank, carried out work on the introduction of a system of rapid payments in the country to diversify methods and mechanisms for conducting non-cash payments using QR codes.
