As of the beginning of June 2024, Turkmenistan has hit the jackpot with a whopping 1.09 million registered users of internet banking services, which is a remarkable 11 percent increase compared to the same month last year, where they had a mere 983,717 registered users., Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the largest number of registered users of this service live in the Mary (248,052 users) and Lebap (241,270 users) regions, as well as in the city of Ashgabat (236,418 users).
With 400,611 registered users, Dayhanbank had the most users throughout the reporting period. This indicator is followed by Turkmenbashi Joint-Stock Commercial Bank (179,990 users) and Turkmenistan State Commercial Bank (373,792 users).
The Internet Banking application is used for non-cash replenishment of city and cell phones, IP-TV, and the Internet, as well as for paying loans and buying tickets for rail transport and intercity buses.
The good news is that Turkmenistan's financial sector is experiencing steady growth, particularly in the integration of mobile applications for a wide range of service and product payments. Transaction volumes are increasing, along with the introduction of new payment methods available through bank payment terminals.
