Trend:
The mining and metallurgical industries are major ones in the economy of the region, Trend reports with reference to Kazinform.
Currently, Kazakhstan’s Akmola region ranks first in the country on the production of semi-finished gold, occupying about 30 percent of the country’s total production.
“This figure will increase in the near future thanks to the implementation of promising projects for the construction of RGGold and Aksu Technology gold recovery factories with the production of about 10 tons of gold. Thanks to this, the share of the region in the republican volume of production of this type of metal will increase to 38 percent,” the department of business and industry of the Akmola region said.
“Another of the large enterprises planning to improve their performance is the Stepnogorsk Mining and Chemical Combine. The company specializes in molybdenum and uranium ores obtained by highly scientific production methods. The enterprise processes about 1 million tons of copper-molybdenum ore per year from the ‘Kyzyl Tu’ deposit. Uranium mining capacity is 4,000 tons. The company currently employs 1,079 people,” said the message.
“The copper-molybdenum production line is 100 percent loaded. For uranium mining, this figure is slightly lower. This is due to the fact that we do not have our own raw materials. In the future, we plan to re-equip the uranium production line. As a result, we will be able to produce more than 6,000 tons of uranium per year,” said the department’s Deputy General Director Artyom Vazhin.
The enterprise plans to fully load the uranium processing line and increase production capacity by 1.5 times. This will be possible by increasing production at the Budenovskoye mine.
In total, six large enterprises operate in the region including Altyntau Kokshetau JSC, Orken-Atansor LLP, MMC Kazakhaltyn JSC, and others.
