BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 21. The current account of the balance of payments in 2022 will account for $6.4 billion, a decrease of $0.6 billion, compared to the projections made in August and September, Akylzhan Baimagambetov, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, said, Trend reports, citing the press service of the National Bank.
Baimagambetov also stated that the National Bank decreased its projection for 2023 from an earlier estimate of $7.5 billion to $1.9 billion. Consequently, the projections for 2024 and 2025 have also been reduced, and they are expected to reach $1.2 billion and $0.6 billion respectively.
The deputy governor said that the causes of the updated forecasts are significant amendments to the estimates of imports of goods according to the balance of payments methodology, as well as the growing dynamics of imports in 3Q2022.
