ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 25. Kazakhstan is ready to participate in the implementation of projects for the development of the Trans-Afghan corridor, Trend reports.

This topic was discussed at the meeting of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, Serik Zhumangarin and Abdul Ghani Baradar.

Thus, Kazakhstan is particularly interested in participating in the construction of the Termez – Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar and Herat – Kandahar – Spin Boldak railways.

The project will make it possible to reduce the delivery time of goods between the countries of the region by almost 10 times, as well as reduce the cost of cargo transportation.

The Kazakh side noted that it is ready to take part in the construction of the Trans-Afghan main line by supplying materials for the upper structure of the railway track, sleepers, and fastenings of its own production.

Meanwhile, over the past three years, the volume of export transportation from Kazakhstan to Afghanistan has been growing steadily. In 2023, the volume of transportation by rail amounted to 2.7 million tons, of which 1.5 million tons were flour and grain. This is 14 percent more than in 2021.

The forecast for the coming years is an increase in exports by 40 percent. At the same time, by 2030, traffic growth is expected to triple.
