Kyrgyzstan's mineral products take lead in exports to Belgium

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. Kyrgyzstan's exports to Belgium were mainly composed of mineral products from January through April 2023, accounting for 91.2 percent of the total exports, a source at the Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Development Cooperation of Belgium (FPS Foreign Affairs) told Trend.

According to FPS, vegetable products accounted for 6.3 percent of the export share, while wood contributed 1.2 percent.

On the other hand, Kyrgyzstan's imports from Belgium during the same period saw the largest share in transport equipment, constituting 29.9 percent of the total imports. Mineral products followed closely with 29.3 percent, and chemicals accounted for 11.2 percent of the import share.

In terms of Kyrgyzstan's position as Belgium's trading partner, it held the 124th spot as an exporter to Belgium during the reporting period. The total export value amounted to 6.1 million euros.

Kyrgyzstan's imports from Belgium were valued at 15.8 million euros; it held 131st place as an importer from Belgium.

The source also said that Belgian companies are interested in the Kyrgyz market. It was noted that In June, a regional trade mission was organized to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. This mission established new contacts between Belgian and Kyrgyz companies.
