Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with Russia declines

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 16. Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with Russia reached $2.206 billion from January through October 2023, accounting for 17.9 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that trade decreased by 25 percent compared to the ten months of 2022 ($2.945 billion).

Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Russia during this period equaled $593.348 million, a decrease of 35 percent compared to the corresponding months of last year ($912.659 million). Russia’s share in Kyrgyzstan’s exports was 24.3 percent.

The country’s imports from Russia totaled $1.613 billion, which is 20.6 percent less than the imports from January through October 2022 ($2.032 billion). It accounted for 16.4 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total imports.

During the reporting period, Russia stood as Kyrgyzstan's second-largest trading partner, trailing only China ($4.309 billion, or 35 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade).

Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover reached $12.297 billion from January through October 2023, increasing by 24.9 percent compared to $9.845 billion in the same period of 2022.

Exports from Kyrgyzstan totaled $2.443 billion during the 10 months, which is a 29.6 percent increase compared to $1.885 billion recorded from January through October 2022. Imports into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $9.854 billion during this period, reflecting a 23.8 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 ($7.959 billion).
