Kyrgyzstan's agricultural exports shoot up in 8M2024

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 20. Kyrgyzstan's agricultural exports amounted to 24.8 billion soms ($290 million) from January through August 2024, which is a 10.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanybek Kerimaliev said during an event celebrating Agricultural Workers' Day, Trend reports.

Of this total, exports of livestock products contributed 5.43 billion soms ($63.5 million), which is a growth of 6.6 percent year-on-year, while crop products accounted for 7.45 billion soms ($87.1 million), with an increase of 2.4 percent.

Additionally, exports of processed products amounted to 11.93 billion soms ($139.5 million), which is a 17.3 percent increase over the same months in 2023. Consequently, the share of agricultural products in overall exports rose to 13.1 percent, up from 12.6 percent in the same period of 2023.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country's trade turnover amounted to $10.6 billion from January through August 2024, which is a 9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. Exports rose by 13.1 percent year-on-year, totaling $2.1 billion. Meanwhile, imports increased by 8.1 percent to $8.5 billion.
