Turkmenistan and Georgia forge closer economic ties with rising trade turnover

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 24. The total volume of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Georgia from January through March this year amounted to $19.6 million, Trend reports.

Data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia show that this figure is 8.2 percent more than in comparison with the volume of trade turnover in the first quarter of the previous year, which amounted to $18.1 million.

During this period, Turkmenistan exported goods totaling almost $15.4 million to Georgia, which remained almost unchanged compared to the corresponding period in 2023, when exports were estimated at $15.5 million.

At the same time, Turkmenistan imported goods from Georgia in the first quarter of this year in the amount of $4.2 million, which is 61 percent more than in the same period last year, when imports were estimated at $2.6 million.

Meanwhile, for the whole of 2023, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Georgia amounted to a total of $100.6 million, which indicates a decrease in trade activity by 46 percent compared to 2022, when it amounted to $186.5 million.
