ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 7. Last week, Turkmenistan held auctions on its State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange, resulting in deals on the sale of raw materials totaling almost $18.8 million, Trend reports.
This is 3.4 times less than in the previous reporting period, during which the cost of raw materials sold amounted to $65.3 million, according to the exchange.
Business representatives from Türkiye, UAE, Afghanistan, and Georgia bought products from the Turkmennebit State Concern's enterprises, such as base oil, aviation kerosene, petroleum bitumen, and carbamide from the Turkmenhimiya State Concern, in exchange for foreign currency.
Furthermore, smooth-dyed and jacquard terry products, bedding sets, cotton yarn, and goat wool were exported to Türkiye, the UAE, and Kyrgyzstan for foreign currency.
In the domestic market, Turkmen businessmen purchased polypropylene, petroleum bitumen, and base oil (Turkmennebit State Concern), as well as sheet glass and handmade carpets totaling more than 6.2 million Turkmen manat ($1.7 million).
Last week's auctions of Turkmenistan's State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange yielded 19 transactions.
On July 29, 1994, Turkmenistan established the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange. It is the most important body of state regulation for export-import operations.
