World Bank releases forecast for Uzbekistan’s GDP growth

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 12. The World Bank (WB) has published forecasts for Uzbekistan's GDP growth in 2024–2026, Trend reports.

According to the bank's forecasts, Uzbekistan's GDP is projected to amount to 5.3 percent in 2024. This is 0.2 percentage points lower than the previous prediction. Earlier in January, the bank forecast the growth of Uzbekistan's economy at 5.5 percent in 2024.

The bank notes that the growth of GDP will be supported mainly by the continuation of structural reforms, in particular restructuring and privatization of state-owned enterprises, as well as high investments in the energy sector.

Furthermore, the World Bank expects the forecast of Uzbekistan's GDP to rise to 5.5 percent in 2025.

The bank's analysts forecast that GDP growth will continue in 2026. According to the data, Uzbekistan’s GDP will amount to 5.7 percent in 2026.

Meanwhile, as per data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, the volume of GDP in the country amounted to 1.06 trillion soums ($623.5 billion) in 2023, a 6 percent increase from 2022.

The growth of the industry sector amounted to 6.0 percent, and its positive contribution to GDP growth is estimated at a level of 1.5 percentage points.
